Existing complaints that are not assessed by 3 December 2018 will be assessed under the new system.

Complaints assessed as inappropriate conduct, where a final decision on how it should be dealt with is not finalised by 3 December 2018, will be dealt with under the former legislative provisions.

Complaints assessed as misconduct, where a final decision on how it should be dealt is not finalised by 3 December 2018, will be dealt with under the new system.

Disciplinary orders for misconduct and inappropriate conduct made before 3 December 2018 that are still existing, can be taken into account by the local government or the Independent Assessor when deciding on conduct matters.

Recommendations made by the Local Government Remuneration and Discipline Tribunal to dismiss or suspend a councillor, made before 3 December 2018, where the Minister has not made a decision, will still stand and be dealt with under the new system.
